Woerden is a real cheese city and we have been celebrating that since 1885 with the Cheese Market. This market is organized weekly during the summer months. Dozens of volunteers try to show how cheeses are made and traded as realistically as possible. In this way, the traders show how trade is conducted between farmers and cheese traders by means of clapping hands. The ringmaster takes the visitors into the world of cheese. And of course there is plenty of goodies to taste and buy.
The volunteers are coordinated by the Cheese Warehouse. The Cheese Warehouse is committed in various ways to ensure that Woerden can continue to put itself on the map as a cheese city. Would you like to become a volunteer? Get in touch via their website.
