Are you looking for volunteer work? Would you like to help status holders to build a good future in the Netherlands? Then the position of social counselor for refugees at the Refugee Support Center Groene Hart is perfect for you!
Who are we?
We are Refugee Support Center Green Heart (VSGH). We are committed to status holders in Woerden and Oudewater. Through our way of working, we contribute for two years to the self-reliance of refugees who can build their own home in our municipality.
Good to know:
- We tell you about our work and guide you.
- Working hours: you choose how many hours per week you want to work: anything from one consecutive part of the day (4 hours per week) is fine. On which day/part of the day that is is up to you: when can you?
- Where you work: at our office in Woerden or Oudewater.
- We request a Certificate of Good Behavior (VOG) for you.
As a social counselor at the Refugee Support Center, you intensively guide our clients during their integration. You always encourage them to become socially and financially self-sufficient. In concrete terms, you will be assigned your own clients. You receive them at the office and you visit them at home.
In practice you do this:
- Listen. You don't immediately go into do-mode, but first offer a listening ear.
- Practical help. You explain to clients as simply as possible how the Netherlands works and you help concretely with applying for schemes and setting up an administration. You support your clients during the integration process and you guide them towards financial self-reliance.
- Stimulate. You encourage clients to learn Dutch and build a network.
- Investigate and find out. Together with your colleagues, you ensure that you are aware of the possibilities and obligations for status holders.
Does this volunteer work suit you?
This work is perfect for you if you don't want to stand on the sidelines shaking your head at 'the refugee problem in the Netherlands'. With us you are part of the solution. That is not only rewarding work, but also requires you to take responsibility and sometimes respond to unexpected situations.
On the other hand, as a social counselor you actually help status holders move forward. You see people who have often been through a lot, make a fresh start thanks to your help and grow in self-confidence. That makes this work priceless.
Why this is wonderful volunteering:
- Your help makes the difference between uncertainty and hope for the future for status holders. This is not only good for the status holder themselves, but also for the people around them and ultimately for society as a whole;
- You have a lot of influence on your own working hours;
- You work with a driven, involved team with a big helper's heart;
- This volunteer work looks great on your CV.
