The volunteers of Wij are Woerden help status holders with language and practical matters. Language buddies usually help 1 or 2 hours a week. Buddies can help in every area. Often on an ad hoc basis, for example driving to the hospital, going to the child health clinic, helping with the furnishing of the home, laying carpets, painting, or helping with the installation of a computer or internet connection. We are Woerden is happy to help. The status holder and the volunteer decide for themselves how much help that is and how often someone comes.

The volunteers also familiarize them with our society and introduce beneficiaries to Dutch people. That helps with integration. Status holders must complete their integration within three years, otherwise they will be fined. Language is therefore very important, also to get a paid job.

Finally, Wij zijn Woerden also helps organize activities such as Zing Nederlands met me, Language Café, Traffic and Cycling Lessons, Summer School and intensive integration programmes.
