Large turnout workshop Dementia-friendly
On Wednesday 12 December, Alderman Tymon de Weger awarded certificates to volunteers who have followed a friendly workshop Together Dementia in the volunteer academy of Hart voor Woerden.
In 3 meetings, each with about 15 participants, the volunteers learned everything about dementia. How can you help someone, what are the signs, what is the best dos and don'ts.
In the basic training GOOD dealing with dementia, you learn step-by-step skills that are important when you come into contact with people with dementia. Learn to recognize dementia, make contact and help someone in the right way, for example on the street or in the library.
One in 5 people develop dementia. So we all have to deal with it. This can be done in the family, with friends, but also on the street and at work. With a little effort you can mean a lot for people with dementia and people in their environment. Because it is so nice to know what to do when a others who don't know anymore.
