Extra tips for organizations to get through the coming period
We all notice the consequences of the corona measures. Many actions in our daily lives have changed. And this will (unfortunately) remain that way for a while.
All organisations, associations and foundations have had to adapt their working methods. Many volunteers are at home because they are no longer allowed or unable to help with their volunteer job. Activities are cancelled, events are canceled and contact moments and visits to each other are no longer possible. This makes helping the elderly and people with vulnerable health even more complicated.
Fortunately, many creative and playful actions have been set up recently to get through this time. Card actions, swing actions, meeting moments in front of the window: we all try to make the best of it.
We give you some extra tips to get through the coming period:
1. Ask for help
Are there participants or residents who are very lonely since the corona measures? Are there any clients you know are desperate for help with shopping or cooking? Or do you know someone in the immediate vicinity? Post your request for help on hartvoorwoerden.nl in the category 'corona help'. This can be done on behalf of someone, for yourself or for your organisation.
2. Keep your volunteers engaged!
Are your volunteers at home because they can no longer or may not help or because the activities have stopped? Stay in touch with them. Send an extra message or card. Or come up with an activity they can do from home. For example, a new project in the course of this year, setting up social media or refurbishing things. Ask the volunteers themselves how they would like to contribute.
3. Get started online
Are you working from home because other activities cannot continue? Then you now have the opportunity to set up jobs that can be done from home. Think of advice about your website or social media, setting up an email program, designing a new flyer, writing a fund application or newsletters.
4. (Digital) cleaning
This time gives you the space to clean up a bit. Update your volunteer policy, contracts or agreements. And clean up your digital folders. You will soon be able to make a fresh start!
5. Improve your collaboration from home!
Do you work from home with your board or team? Then you will notice that communication with your fellow volunteers is quite difficult. How do you get things coordinated without emailing, calling or texting each other all day long?
